Frequently asked questions

Five tabs cover the routine tidy-ups: Clean Text collapses stray spaces, Case Converter shifts between UPPER, lower, Title, camelCase and snake_case, Reverse flips characters, words or lines, List Tools sorts, dedupes and shuffles rows, and Find & Replace performs literal or regex substitutions. For instance, paste hello world, convert it to Hello World Example, reverse it to world hello, or swap colour for color across 5,000 words without leaving the page.

No. Each tab works on your own device through built-in browser JavaScript, so pasted drafts, client lists and credentials never leave your machine. There is no account, no upload queue and no server copy; closing the tab discards the text. That matters when the material is a confidential contract, a private mailing list or unreleased source code.

Open the List Tools tab and choose dedupe and blank removal. It keeps the first appearance of each row and drops empty ones, so a 520-row outreach sheet condenses to roughly 480 unique entries before you export to Sheets or CSV. Combine sort A-Z with dedupe for directories, or use shuffle when you need a fair random order instead of an alphabetical one.

Yes. The Find & Replace tab accepts literal strings or JavaScript-style regular expressions with flags such as i for case-insensitivity and word-boundary markers. A case-insensitive colour-to-color swap previews 23 hits inside a 5,000-word report, while a word boundary stops his from altering history. Live match counts reveal collateral edits before you commit Replace All.

Character mode flips individual code units, and compound emoji, combining accents and other multi-unit graphemes can split apart, so a family emoji may fragment. Switch to words or lines mode, which keep each token intact and stay readable. Keep character mode for palindrome puzzles and mirror effects where legibility is not the goal.

How to use Text Tools: Clean, Convert & Reverse

  1. Paste your text: Drop a messy paragraph, a 520-line mailing list or a 20-line changelog into the shared input box.
  2. Pick a tab: Choose Clean Text to normalize spacing, Case Converter to restyle headings, Reverse to flip order, List Tools to sort or dedupe, or Find & Replace for bulk edits.
  3. Preview the change: Read the live output, such as Hello World Example from Title case, 23 highlighted colour matches, or 520 rows reduced to 480 unique.
  4. Copy the result: Duplicate the cleaned text for your editor, spreadsheet or repository; nothing is stored once the page closes.

In-depth guide

What the text workspace covers

This workspace gathers five everyday text utilities behind a single tab bar so you can tidy a draft without hunting for separate sites. Clean Text trims doubled spaces, converts tabs to spaces, strips zero-width characters and normalizes line endings; Case Converter restyles headings into UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title, Sentence, camelCase or snake_case; Reverse flips text by characters, words or lines; List Tools sorts A-Z, removes duplicate and blank rows, reverses order or shuffles fairly; Find & Replace swaps literal strings or regex matches in bulk. A writer might paste a 1,500-word essay, repair spacing, retitle the heading, then flip a changelog for review, all offline, with the text confined to browser memory.

How each tab transforms text

Cleaning follows fixed rules: runs of spaces collapse to one, tabs become spaces, trailing whitespace on each line is removed and invisible characters are dropped, so John and Doe typed with stray tabs becomes John Doe. Case rules are explicit: Title capitalizes principal words while lowering a, the, and, of, in and on, whereas Sentence capitalizes only the opening token and camelCase concatenates words with the first letter lowered. Reverse keeps spaces and newlines intact in word and line modes and only mirrors code units in character mode. List Tools compares case-insensitively, keeps the first duplicate and counts before and after, and Find & Replace honors flags such as i, g and word boundaries so partial words like his inside history stay untouched unless you allow them.

Worked example: tidy a messy 500-line list

Start with a 520-row prospect sheet copied from a spreadsheet, complete with blank rows and doubled spaces. Paste it into Clean Text and the spacing irregularities disappear; move to List Tools, enable sort A-Z and dedupe, and the count falls to 480 unique rows with the empties gone. Switch to Find & Replace, set colour to color with case-insensitivity and whole-word matching, and confirm the highlighted hits before Replace All. Finally open Reverse in lines mode to flip a 20-entry changelog so the newest release reads last, then copy each result out. Every step runs without a server round-trip, so confidential names and unreleased notes stay on your machine throughout.
